**Keep two sheets from day one: what you bought and what you tested.** Paste the headers below into a spreadsheet (comma separated) and fill in your own prices, links and results.

## Bill of materials

```
Item,Part number or spec,Qty,Unit price (INR),Shop,Date bought,Used in,Notes
Example: microcontroller board,(your board),1,(price you paid),(shop),(date),(subsystem),(why you chose it)
```

- Record the price you actually paid, including shipping, and the shop.
- Add a “spare” line for parts that burn out easily, such as drivers and regulators.
- Total the sheet and compare with your budget before you order.

## Test log

```
Date,Subsystem,Test,Setup,Expected,Measured,Pass or fail,Fix or next step
(date),(motors),(spin both wheels),(battery full),(equal speed),(your measurement),(result),(what you changed)
```

- Test one subsystem at a time: power, motors, sensors, then the whole robot.
- Write failures down in the same sheet. They become your “problems and fixes” chapter.
- Photograph the setup so you can repeat the test.

## Pin map

```
Signal,Board pin,Connected to,Notes
(motor A direction),(pin),(driver input),(avoid strapping pins on ESP32)
```

For ESP32 boards check the [ESP32 pinout for robotics](https://roboticsengineering.in/esp32-pinout-for-robotics/) before you assign pins.
